Community Café (Monday to Friday 9am-2pm)Charmaine said: "The cafe is a social enterprise and is doing well, we have a good choice of hot and cold sandwiches as well as cooked breakfast and hot meals. Dean our Kitchen assistant is a prize winner for his cakes and buns also scones which sell out as soon as they come from the oven, we have a number of phone calls on a Monday wanting to know when they will be ready and we sell out very quickly, Dean was the Overall and Grown up winner in the Charming Armley Cake competition. Thursday is are over 50 luncheon club day and we have a few regulars who have formed friendships and do go on days out, also one couple helps with plants and advice to our After School Club who do gardening on a Friday."
Table Top Sale (First Saturday of every month)"We have a Table top sale on the first Saturday of every month 1pm to 3pm and the cafe is also open on these days." said Charmaine.
New Wortley Fun DayCharmaine said: "This is planned for September and we try and get all the local community to come together and enjoy themselves. We are in the process of doing an Open Community Garden with the help of volunteers and BTCV I am hoping that this will bring the local residents together and learn about the different cultures of some of are newer residents."
Main Hall"We have a main hall that can be hired for parties at the weekend,also organisations and groups use the hall for meetings and information days, we will be having a Job Market on Wednesday 25 June 2pm to 4pm Wednesdays is also the day we have a Job Club 1pm to 3pm so if anyone is looking for work come along and let us help you with CV's and Job applications. The Local Neighbourhood Wardens are based in the centre and will try and help with any problems people may have with ASB or rubbish that has been tipped as well as other local issues. The PCSO also drop in and are here to help with any problems."
After School Club (Monday to Friday 3.15pm-5.45pm)"We pick up the children from Castleton School this cost £6 per session. so if you are working or at college or just want a break call us, we will take children from other schools but the parents will have to arrange for them to be brought to the centre."
Charmaine added: "The centre tries to be a place where people can come and have a cupper and a chat or you can just come and sit and enjoy the atmosphere."
