But the youngsters who have been adding a splash of colour to the walls of West Leeds High School in Armley have been acting with the very best of intentions.

The students were paying a fond farewell to the school – and neighbouring Wortley High – which are both set for demolition.

The schools closed at the end of the summer term. They have been merged and replaced with the new £25m Swallow Hill Community College, on the site of West Leeds.

To introduce both sets of pupils and the new intake from local primary schools, a series of fun sessions have been held at the old West Leeds building. One of the activities was to create their own mural.
