An Armley primary school has been selected as the winner of the Best Get Online event for Family Learning Week last year.
St Bartholomew's Primary School was given the award by the Campaign for Learning and UK online centres after a successful day at the school in October that encouraged families to embrace the internet.

At the event in October the school had a FamilyWeb Challenge, IT taster sessions, an e-learning bus, badgemaking with digital snaps and a NintendoWii competition.

Representatives from the school will receive their certificate and prize at the National Family Learning Network Families of Our Times conference in London on March 7.

Zoë Stead, Extended Schools Development Officer for Armley, said: "Get Online Daymade the school day extra special for the children, with their parents and carers coming in to share in the fun, and learn alongside them.

"Everyone had a really good time, and I think everyone involved learned something new.

"It's events like these that show how schools canmake a real contribution to community learning, and I'm delighted that's been recognised with this award."

To celebrate 10 years of National Family Learning celebrations by the Campaign for Learning, this year will
feature an extended Family Learning Festival, taking place throughout the whole of October.

Organisations wanting to join St Bartholomew's C of E Primary School and other family and community venues can register their interest now at www.familylearningweek.com or call 0207 766 0001.
