It was no laughing matter for Armley balloon entertainer Danny Twist when two young masked thugs decided they wanted his cash.
Danny was returning to his Armley home with his takeaway pizza supper when he heard footsteps behind him on Paisley View at 11.10pm on Wednesday, April 9.

He was approached by two males, both aged about 16 to 20.

"The first youth shouted 'Give us your money' and then both began punching me in the head and body," said a still shaken Danny, 28.

"I managed to keep on my feet, but all sorts of pictures came into my head.

"I thought they might produce a knife or other weapon."

Danny told them they could have his mobile phone and then threw his wallet at them, hoping they would leave him alone.

As the youths picked up the wallet containing £10 cash, Danny's membership card for the entertainers' union Equity and bank cards, he took his opportunity to escape.

"But they chased after me – I assume they were after the mobile phone," said Danny.

Desperate to reach safety he ran inside an elderly woman's home, whose door had been ajar, and called police.

"It has left me quite shaken up and with a slight hand inury," said Danny.

He is now planning to move out of his home and has cancelled his stolen banking documents.

Police are believed to be testing his jacket for forensic evidence.
Both of the attackers were described as white with scarves around the lower halves of their faces. They also wore hooded tops.

A spokeswoman for West Yorkshire Police confirmed the robbery was being investigated.

They appealed for anyone with information to contact them on 0845 6060606.
