I Love West Leeds Festival is currently on the look out for more mature musicians to join its new 'Citizens Orchestra.'
The orchestra is appealing for musicians over 60, whatever their abilities.

Jane Earnshaw, the Festival Director, is keen for as many people as possible to get involved.

"Whether you play every day or haven't played for years, we'd like you to dust off your instrument and be a part of this great new group" she said.

Rehearsals usually take place every Monday afternoon from 3pm-5pm at Interplay's headquarters on Armley Ridge Road in Armley.

The atmosphere is fun and informal and the group are currently working on a performance which will include music, photographic images and a narrative based on memories.

There are opportunities to see the new Citizens Orchestra free of charge, at 8pm on Thursday, July 16 at Armley Liberal Club where they will be playing alongside the Bill James Big Band as part of the I Love West Leeds Festival.

The band will continue rehearsing after the festival and work towards further performances at Christmas.
