Dust, by Kenneth F Yates, is the story of June Hancock.

Mrs Hancock lived in the shadow of the J W Roberts asbestos factory, which for decades spewed deadly asbestos dust over the community.

Mrs Hancock's mother died from mesothelioma, an incurable cancer of the lung, caused by asbestos.

When Mrs Hancock herself contracted the disease, the J W Roberts factory had long been closed.

But she took the firm's owners, Turner Newall, to court.

For three years the firm deliberately delayed the court action, seeking adjournment after adjournment, knowing the Mrs Hancock was dying.

The firm's behaviour was lambasted by judges.

Mrs Hancock fought on for four years, eventually winning compensation.

Dust is performed by a community cast drawn from across Yorkshire.
