Festival organiser, Jane Earnshaw, told Armley Today why they were reviving the American tradition.

"We wanted to bring back some of that disco glamour to the festival," she said. "Roller disco is having a major comeback everywhere and we wanted to get as many people as possible involved."

There are regular roller disco nights in Leeds as well as a roller derby.

Two years ago Armley skaters, Casey Orr and Jane Zanzoterra formed Armley on Wheels, Armley's first ever skate club.

The July 9 event is free so come along and skate to the disco sounds of DJ Booth and guests.

Skate hire available for £5 if booked in advance – call Jane Earnshaw on 0789 631 8657.

* For further details of any of the festival events visit: www.ilovewestleeds.co.uk or call the festival infoline on 07914 4745 151.
